ESSAY – Compare Two Restaurants

          A meal is something that represents not only food but also it is a time to rest and enjoy what ever you are going to eat. For these occasion people have restaurants that mix delicious dishes in a beautiful place. In Lima there are 2 famous restaurants. One is “La Gloria” and the other is “La Mar”, both of them are very different from each other.

          “La Gloria” is a restaurant that has a combination between typical dishes of Peru and a huge elegant space. The dishes offered are very delicious. Many people choose this restaurant because it offers not only good food but also has a wine cellar that match with the entire entering menu. What makes it special from other restaurants is the raising of their own lambs that they offer in the menu as well as the spices that are also used to prepare the dishes. “La Gloria Restaurant” is very influential in Lima because many of their dishes have been copy to other restaurants.

          Another well-known restaurant is “Astrid & Gastón”. This one is different to the other one because they always reinvent the menu with many kind of dishes every week. The offered dishes are prepared with species and ingredients that had not been used before. Also they have a very beautiful space. It is not as exclusive as the other one but it has more options of unique and exotic dishes. The owners of “Astrid & Gastón Restaurant” see their establishment as a laboratory in which they can invent different plates with ancestral techniques.

          In Lima and in the entire world people have many alternatives to eat different dishes in many kind of restaurants. We can try any of them until find one that really make us feel more that good. To conclude, always there will be a restaurant that fits with your expectations.

Subject: I’m travelling next month

Dear Paula,

I’m so glad to hear that you finally decided to visit me. It will be very exiting to know each other face to face for the first time.  

To get to my home you can get a taxi inside the airport. It is safety but a little expensive. Tell to the taxi driver that you want to go to Fiori. It is located at the beginning of the Tomas Valle Avenue. That avenue is in front of the airport and it has 42 blocks. After go along the avenue until block 3 turn to the right go straight 2 more block and turn to the left. My house has 2 floors and it color red.

I would suggest you many places depending on what you want to do. Near to Lima city there is Lurin. In this place you can enjoy not only the beach or practice some extreme sports as sand board or motorcycle but you also can visit the Pachacamac Sanctuary in which you find temples of ancients Peruvians. Unfortunately, I won’t have time on this week because I will be on exams.

I’m sorry, there are not museums near my house but in the center of Lima there is a big museum call Mali. You can find lots of famous paintings. Also there give courses about painting. It is easy to get there. If you need any other information, please let me know.

MOVIE REVIEW: “There’s Something About Mary”

This movie was directed by the Farrelly brothers in 1998. Cameron Diaz starts Mary, a girl who lived with her mother and her step-father and had a brother who had hearing problem. In high-school she met Ted, which is starts by Ben Stiller, who fell in love with her but nothing happened between them for some funny problems at the prom. 13 years after he could not forget Mary and he hired a detective to find her. The detective’s name is Pat, which is starts by Mat Dillon, who after found Mary also fell in love her. Both guys tried to have the attention of her so she fell in love with one of them but to made it possible they went trough many situations that involved hilarious moments and new characters. 

I personally love this movie because it is so funny and make you laugh from the beginning to the end. It has not only great actors and actresses but also the plot is very real because the main theme talks about young people who fall in love in high-school and even if the time past you can forget that special love. I love the theme, the cats and the stage. The entire movie has a very funny dialogue and it is well directed.

Subject: Volunteers for a Coastal Rainforest and Wildlife Expedition

I recently saw your advertisement requesting volunteers to enjoy a conservation expedition to a remote region of Costa Rica. I would like to participate in this experience to improve my skills in wildlife. 

I practice sports since I was 12 years old. I am physically person and I love doing extreme sports as callac and trekking. Additionally, I am go swimmer and I won the first place in a completion in my city. Also I prefer to camp and be in natural places. 

I can speak 3 languages (Spanish, English and French). I am a tourism student so I love interact with other cultures and know more about them. As I have a year off so I would be able to participle. Finally, I consider myself a proactive person who can fit in any kind of activities.

Your Last Holidays

My last holiday was 5 months ago. I traveled with my groom to Churin and we spend 3 amazing days in that town. Churin is 6 hours from Lima and it has a dry weather. As soon as we arrive we were very exiting to visit “Baños Termales” because we heard many good think about it. We visit 3 “Baños Termales” call “Chiuchin, Picoy and Huamahuarni” all of them had clean water and they had almost 4 different temperatures which make you feel relax in every bath you took. Our holiday was so relaxing and beautiful. Not only because the “Baños Temales” but also because the scenery was incredible with the sun shinning and light cold wind and the typical dishes are delicious. As always happen, there are bad points. One of them is the accommodation in the main square which is not comfortable because the rooms are so small that you feel as a rabbit inside them and also they are expensive. Another thing is the transportation to get there. The cars are not in a well condition to travel. Anyway, we are planning to travel there for Independence Day.

Why do you study English?

In this opportunity I am going to give three reasons why I study English. First of all, English is the global language because anyone who speaks English can communicate with different people from any country in the world and be understood. Secondly, is essential for business issues. For example when foreign companies come to Peru to invest and they can not speak Spanish they need a global language as English to talk with Peruvians promoter or businessmen. Finally, the main reason I started studying English 1 year ago was because I wanted to be able to understand and sang Guns and Roses Group’s songs which I always love and means a lot to me.
